| "To do Great Things, one Must Embrace the Impossible" Personal InformationName: Sasme Raiki Alias: The Lightning Sage Age: 24 Gender: Male Village: Kumogakure Village Rank: RaikageSkill Rank: S Appearance InformationHeight: 6'2 Weight: 185 Style: Sasme's style is very relaxed even for that of a Kage. When he is traveling around the village simply interacting with everyone he wears the basic Jounin outfit with his headband included, but he also wears a slightly modified version of the Kage robe. The sleeves are absent and on the back is embroidered, "The Lightning Sage" in a vertical pattern. This is both a shout out to himself in skill, and a way to put some personality in his daily life as Raikage. On missions, when he does decide to go, he usually wears the same thing, as it proclaims his strength in combat when he faces down against Enemy Shinobi. Looks Image: Looks Description: Achilles stands at six foot two inches tall, making him generally a lot taller then many of the other Shinobi who populate the Hidden Villages, even those within the Kumo itself. His height is combined with the very muscular yet defined form all of his body is covered in, making him look every bit of the part he holds as the Raikage of Kumo. This height and his defined body shape often give him a look of intimidation whether he uses it to such extents or not, it usually results in such a feeling especially among his comrades within the Hidden Cloud Village. His body holds a darker shade of white skin, thanks to his being a Native of Kumo where many there usually hold a darker overall skin tone. The tanned color which adorns his body, often makes him look as though he is glistening in the light of the sun, during training due to the added sweat reflecting the light off of his body, giving him an awe inspiring presence. Along with his amazing Physique, he holds piercing eyes which are a dark blue color, giving them an appearance of being beautiful yet, deadly. His gaze which he often uses to narrow at his enemy can give them a feeling of despair as much of his inner feelings reside within them, and can be used to make his opponent feel whatever he wishes them to. When not trying to glare at his opponents it's often that his eyes can sometimes become shaded or covered by the shaggy length hair brown hair that covers his head, though not extending further then just around his eyes, he often jokes about needing a haircut every month, due to its quick growth. The remainder of his face, though handsome is nothing memorable, his strong yet narrow jawline define his facial features along with his strong chin. Something likely passed on to him through his father's side of the family, as they had been known to being handsome men as well. His nose though fitting his face and the size of his body can sometimes be viewed as big, but given the size of the rest of his body fits him quite well, thankfully it's never been broken enough to disfigure his appearance. An aspect of appearance often left out, of the minds of most people, is the presence that person gives off to others around him. Achilles is one of those people who always seems to give off a presence no matter his mood to others around him. There is usually a feeling of relief when he is around, the way he holds himself, high up as if nothing could begin to compare to where he believes his own power is, acts as the setting of mood for him and his allies. His gaze with an opponent is never broken, his eyes pierce into the body and soul of the man or creature he decides to focus his attention on, never letting it leave them even if he looks away the pure essence of his body always makes it seems as though they are being watched, hunted, then killed. Personality InformationLikes:
- Having grown up in the Hidden Cloud Village it wasn't a surprise that he enjoyed overcast days. Especially when it was warm out, the fact he wouldn't have to deal with a blinding sun, but still got to enjoy a pretty day, was always a plus to Achilles.
- If there was ever a kryptonite to Achilles(besides his ankle), it would have to be food, he loved it, loved cooking it and especially loved eating it. His life as a Shinobi definitely helped out as he was always burning off the food he just ate.
- A love of literature, is something of a secret love for Achilles as few truly knew of the enjoyment, he got out of the simple reading of a book. Though sometimes, he enjoyed books of the more erotic persuasion.
Dislikes:
- For someone as intense as Achilles the thought of failure was maybe more a fear than something he disliked, but it definitely was in the ballpark of things he hated.
- Despite being such a powerful Shinobi he has his fair share of fears, and one such being, a phobia of spiders, tiny big it didn't matter. Eight legs and pincers meant he didn't want it near him.
- Achilles, is a social person, though he does spend a lot of time training, he tries not to do it solo if he can, as being alone is not something the young man enjoys. It plays on his fear of never having a true love as his addiction to chasing women surfaces in this occasion.
Goals: Become the strongest Shinobi in the History of Kumogakure Personality Description: To start off with, one cannot begin to describe Achilles without mentioning his intensity, simply as a person in general. Not much is ever moderate, with him. He will either put everything he has into something or he won't bother to do it at all, though at times he may have a slow start as he tries to understand something, but once he does, it's 110% effort. This intensity also covers his training and life as a Shinobi, during battle he doesn't let up, battered, bruised, broken, injured? It means little to Achilles, once he is in a battle, as it's not over, until he is dead or whoever he is fighting is beaten. Though by most it can be perceived as foolish or even dangerous in a situation which could cost his life, it is likely one of his best qualities. Though, when is training or on a mission he holds his serious mentality and his epic levels of intensity, when he's at home, he enjoys things that are much more simple. Goofing off is probably one of his favorite occupations, including sky gazing, though in Kumo, it really should be called Cloud Gazing. Though some of his peers especially those he only works with, the idea that such an intense person enjoyed something as easy going as goofing off or relaxing would be mind blowing, it's always been that way for him. To him, "It's always okay to put every part of your being into working hard, but you also need to know that sometimes, you have to just let go of it all." It's an insight of self wisdom, that to every person touched by the young man, almost instantly embrace after getting to know him, truly. However, there are times when is intensity absolutely gets to him, as his fuse, or almost lack there of is legendary. Though many accredit it, to him having some kind of personality disorder, Achilles has what some call a literally, explosive temper. Though as Achilles himself will be quick to defend, it's usually justified, such as a teammate being threatened, or his village, or even his honor, well maybe his skill as a Shinobi too. Alright maybe he couldn't defend his temper, all of the time, but he tried, and especially after his recent promotion, he'd done much to try and control it better. Meditation has been his biggest ally in those efforts as well. There was however another thing, he was famous for, which wasn't quite as negative as his legendary anger problems, but can be seen as considerably more embarrassing. He loves women, for much of his younger life, he had put aside the teenage desires to chase after beautiful girls, and it seemed that after so long it seemed to have reached its limit. It had happened sometime during his tenure as a Jounin, that he suddenly just felt like it was time to find a beautiful girl for himself. Of course, the aforementioned lack of doing such during his teenage years had left him at a significant disadvantage, he knew absolutely nothing about women at all. He isn't all negatives though, as he held something that most people could only claim to have. It was compassion, despite his anger, his addiction to finding love, or all the time he spent training, he would never abandon a friend or an ally. It was something engraved into him. What was strange about it, was that it wasn't even anything about him personally, he hadn't lost any friends, his family consisted of a single sister, his parents had died of natural causes being that they were nearly thirty-five when they had him. It was simply something he saw as a Chuunin on a mission in Kusagakure. (explained in history) To explain further, he would go to any extent to make sure his friends and allies wold not suffer or die. If it meant walking through hell barefoot, while spiders circled around him biting in ways that felt like paper cuts, to save a friend. He'd simply smile and say, "What? No snakes?" It could be construed as some kind of macho hero mentality, but the fact that he usually won, and would only continue to push himself harder, if he even came close to failing, the positives definitely outweighed the negative. Nindo: "My ninja way, is to protect my village and my friends at all costs. To empower my friends so that they can protect our village and their friends. To empower my people so that their spirit never waivers." Character Role: To be the protector of Kumogakure, and to facilitate the training of Shinobi in his Village so that one day, they together may defeat the evil that lurks in their world. Combat Style:Background InformationClan: N/A Birthday: 3/24 History: Pre-Academy:- Spoiler:
Before there was a tall tanned Raikage, by the name of Sasme there was a Jounin by the name of Achilles Raiki. He was quite skilled especially in Ninjutsu, though what he truly prided himself on was an aptitude for Fuuinjutsu too. An art few truly indulged in, but those that did found it extremely useful. Along with Sasme was a woman, by the name of Sayaki also with the last name Raiki, however she was not born with it. No, she married the young Achilles as part of a political effort to help stabilize the relations between, the struggling Hidden Leaf Village and The Hidden Cloud. Sayaki herself, was a few years younger then Achilles and was a Fuuinjutsu specialist who also dabbled in medical Jutsu.
Though they were at odds at first it wasn't long before, Achilles' confident attitude and Sayaki's quick witted intellect, soon became comfortable between the two. Of course once two people who are attracted to each other become comfortable with each other it's not long that love soon follows. And following this love Nine Months later, the product of such love was brought to fruition. Considering the skills of the parents, and the fact that they both had had such bright careers, many jokes were made about how he was destined to be great.
Over the years Sasme had grown to be quite the popular child, all the other parents urged their kids to do the best they could to hang out with the boy. Though he certainly didn't mind, after all kids were far too young to realize the careful planning that was so obvious to adults. What was different though, was that when left to his own devices, he much preferred to play Ninja with the older kids. Most likely because it was normally expected that kids of the same age would enter the academy at the same time, the older kids were not really pushed to play with him, it made Sasme naturally curious.
It was this influence that caused him to become more interested earlier on in becoming a Shinobi. So by he time he was only four he was asking and asking to join. His mother and father being active Shinobi could hardly refuse, he had all the potential in the world, and apparently the motivation to get started how could they say no. Academy Days:- Spoiler:
Looking back at his time in the Academy, Sasme had to admit he was in quite a weighted class as far as successful and skilled Shinobi. He, Katsuro, and Hana, had all entered at the same time in fact were in the same row. Though Sasme was their junior by a couple of years he made sure to make up for it, by working harder then most dared, especially Hana, whom skipped class on a regular basis. Katsuro was more like him, worked hard and had a good strong goal, he wanted to become a war hero, and a teacher. Sasme had always smiled when he talked about it, saying that once he taught them he'd make sure they did their job, after all that's what a Raikage did wasn't it?
Early on, it was obvious that the guessers were right, Sasme was an immediate prodigy, he literally soaked up knowledge like a sponge in class. It may have helped that being the youngest in his class made him feel like he had something to prove and it definitely didn't hurt him. Though his test scores weren't the highest they were definitely in the top ten. Other times he was a mysterious savant, like when it came to Taijutsu, he absolutely refused to learn the academy style, saying it didn't feel right. Because of this, he adopted his own, flowing style of just brawling, but he made it look like a true style, the way he moved and attacked was something to behold. Despite this phenomenon, the fact of the matter was, he was younger and smaller then most in his class and simply couldn't match up to the better fighters, Katsuro was one of those, better fighters.
Where he really stood out however was Jutsu, early on, he was quick to learn how they worked and was able to maintain the balance of physical and mental Chakra. Of course it didn't hurt that he was lucky to have been born with surprising Chakra capacity, which was noticeable when he could train his Jutsu in class longer then most others could despite being younger. It hadn't surprised anyone, other than himself when he was chosen as the Rookie of the Year, in his class.
Genin:- Spoiler:
Achilles was fairly lucky once they graduated as he was placed on a team with his good friend, Katsuro. Their third team member was one that neither he nor Katsuro knew very well, but he was part of Kumo, which was all that mattered to the pair of dedicated Shinobi. Which worked out fairly well, Katsuro was pretty much going to learn to be the tank or muscle man of the group with his Taijutsu specialty, and Sasme was going to be their finisher with his natural specialty towards Ninjutsu, Kuda, as he learned was the name of their third team member, was fairly good at Chakra control but wasn't the best fighter, could alert them in case of Genjutsu.
Though he had to admit them, being on a former ANBU member's team had definitely helped with their discipline. They all got up before day light to begin their morning training before spending the day doing D rank missions and team work exercises only to train again that night and repeat everyday. The way they were pushed every single morning and night despite doing the grunt work of Genin was agonizing for the young Shinobi, but he knew he had to push on. It was also during this rigorous training that they learned why Genin were forbidden to leave the Village Walls when not with their Sensei, he had told them in more detail what was going on in the world. Something the neglected to mention in the Academy to keep students from getting scared and dropping out.
As it turned how, his patience would eventually get rewarded as a few months after becoming a team they had gotten their first real mission. It was a C rank body guard mission in which they were to protect some crop farmers outside the village from the Demons who would threaten to creep up and tear the farmers to pieces. Though many of the larger and deadlier demons were taken care of by ANBU patrols the weak smaller ones occasionally got through, and those were the ones Genin teams were sent after to test their Battle Strength. Though the pay was significantly better than a D rank it didn't make up for the disappointed that they felt more like laborers then Shinobi.
Chuunin Exams:- Spoiler:
Unfortunately due to the massive dangers across the world, the idea of hosting a Chuunin Exam, had fallen out as the traveling, as well leaving other Home Villages unattended would be far too dangerous to even think of attempting a Chuunin Exam again. As it was currently most Villages had found new and different measures to promote their Genin, some stuck to strictly using Field Promotions, while others had developed their own Chuunin Exams in a way. Kumogakure was one of those Villages that had decided to attempt a mixture of the two, adding the dangers of a real mission with the grading of a Chuunin Exam. Sasme was around the age of ten when his team had been selected for the next round of Exam hopefuls, and their Sensei didn't let them down, as he quickly recommended them.
There mission/exam was very simple, all they had to do, was transport mission documents from the starting point and make it to, the assigned finish area, where the current head of the Village would be, as well as their Sensei. What made this not so simple, was where the event was taking place, The Turtle Island. Touted as Kumogakure's version of the well known "Forest of Death" which sat in the former Konohagakure Village, it was a large oval shaped island which had spiked mountains all around it's ring, and a massive sprawling forest beneath the towering spikes. In this forest held all manor of dangerous creatures, of all course ten times the normal size of creatures seen in the world. This made the exam that much more difficult, and that much more impressive if it was conquered, something they definitely expected their top Genin team to accomplish.
It had been a rough start, though about half the size of the Forest of Death, it was much more dangerous as far as the monsters it housed, after all it was a paradise for beasts, and it was made rather obvious why. Not half a day into the exam the team came under attack from a pair of giant Gorillas which were each over twenty feet tall with massive bodies that looked like they could crush the trio easily. Being that the team represented the best in their graduating class of the three major Jutsu Disciplines Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, and Genjutsu, they were able to work in tandem, as Kuda would usually lead off with a disorienting Genjutsu messing with the enemies senses and balance, followed by some debilitating body shots from Katsuro to wear down their enemy, and Sasme would finish the trifecta with whatever Ninjutsu he had available to knock out the killing strike.
Just as the head of the Village suggested as well as their Sensei, they were able to complete the Exam, but that wasn't all, they had managed to complete it, in a single day. With hardly a scratch on them. Sure they were a bit tired from using so much Chakra continuously to run and combat whatever beasts they found, but to just completely run through was unheard of for Genin. All Katsuro and Kuda had to say was that they didn't want to disappoint their Raikage, which brought a confused look on the Head Jounin's face as their hadn't been a Raikage in years as no one really fit the bill. It was only a few moments after that, that what they meant had donned on to him, as they both slapped Sasme on the back of each shoulder, obviously teasing him and congratulating him for pushing them so hard. It was obvious to everyone there, that Sasme truly would go far, he had the potential to reach levels of unfathomable power.
Chuunin:- Spoiler:
For the last five years, Sasme had been helping run the team along with their Sensei, who was a former ANBU member, and it showed, as they only continued to rise on the notice of everyone in their Village. They had gone from being the most watched Genin Team, to becoming the most watched Shinobi Team Kumo had seen in the last three decades. It had truly been a long time since their Village had seen such clear potential so early, sure for the most part they had been able to push the Demon's back, and had suffered the fewest causalities brought from the continuous attacks, but they were wearing down, especially in more experienced Shinobi. So it was evident that the rise of this new group should be what finally secures the survival of the Hidden Cloud Village especially if they are able to motivate the next generation after to progress just as much.
It was around this time, that Sasme had started to truly develop his latent skill set training further into mastering the disciplines that he was most gifted in, of which Ninjutsu was his main focus. Working with his Sensei individually he was able to discover that he had been lucky to have two different Elemental Affinities Raiton, and Fuuton both, which were probably the most offensive minded, something his Sensei said, fit Sasme. He had only continued to impress however, as once they began training for him to master the Elemental Chakra he possessed it was almost like second nature for Sasme, as he was able to pick it up and even was able to perform Raiton Ninjutsu within a week of training with the Element.
It wasn't all Sasme had been doing either, since he became a Chuunin he found another style of Jutsu that interested him, Fuuinjutsu, it was extremely power, as well as extremely useful. Though it was nothing like Ninjutsu, there was no simple grinding out the hand signs and just using muscle memory to get better and better at them. It was much more complex, as Fuuinjutsu wasn't just about drawing a seal and focusing Chakra into it, it was about Jutsu Breakdown, as well as understanding why the seals work, something called Sealing Theory. Which according to, the Uzumaki Clan from the Land of Eddies had been the best Fuuinjutsu users in the world, which actually led to their destruction in The Great Third Shinobi War.
Ironically it was his studying of Fuuinjutsu and breaking down Jutsu which lead to Sasme's next great Accomplishment, in creating his very own Original Jutsu. Up to this point, he'd simply been taking in the Raiton Jutsu which had been handed down in their Village, but Sasme decided it was time, that he set a new precedent, and a new Era of Jutsu. After deciding such, he began to delve deeper into the History of Raiton Ninjutsu and find everything he could about what Jutsu there were and how powerful they were. One name which popped up constantly, was Kakashi of the Sharingan, who was known for his Chidori, and even more so for his Lightning Cutter(Blade).
After reading about the strength and the description of the Jutsu, Sasme's initial thought was that he wanted to learn how to use the powerful Ninjutsu. This was shot down however, once he realized the hand signs for the Jutsu were not recorded, making breakdown of the technique impossible currently for Sasme's abilities. The strength and the description however, left a fire in Sasme's stomach and continued to drive his desire to leave his own mark as a skilled Ninjutsu Shinobi, and after leaving his Village's Archives he immediately went home and began work on his own Jutsu, something he had decided to name both in honor of past Raiton users but as practical as possible thus the, Raiton Strike Jutsu was born.
Becoming Jounin:- Spoiler:
Sasme was nearing his Jounin Promotion, something many people thought was long over due, as he had been a Chuunin or an extended period of time that seemed longer, then even what the past requirement had been. The reason for the extended stay as Chuunin however, had mostly been due to Sasme's reserved attitude towards pushing towards his promotion, he'd been more focused on training and completing missions then he had been getting promoted. He was still fairly young as well, only seventeen by this point, though when compared to the fact he was promoted to Chuunin at the age of ten, it seemed perplexing he would stay at the rank for so long. What mattered now however, was talk had been getting more and more vocal about his next promotion as well as his future candidacy for Raikage.
While of course it was a goal Sasme had, had since he was a kid, he thought it was quite a bit early to be considering him for that, as he was still just a Chuunin, but it was then that he had been challenged to go for a promotion. Though he was going to put it and just say he'd take it whenever he was promoted out in the field, he relented, after all he was ready, he just needed the extra push to get there. That's when he saw the mission to go to Kusagakure, and bring some refugees back to Kumogakure, some of them were Shinobi with Bloodlines, something their Village had always been desperate for, now more so thanks to the ever threatening world they lived in.
It was a fairly long trip to Kusa, after all it was in between Wind and Fire Country, and they in Lightning, were all the way up in the North East so it definitely wasn't a short walk. The situation however, was apparently much more dire then it was made out to be, in the mission assignment, there wasn't just refugees that needed protection on the journey to Kumo, they were still under attack while trying to escape, and not by a small force either. Hundreds of those demons were attacking their position by the time, Sasme got there, and he wasted little time in jumping into the action, and thanks to his new Original Jutsu, he was able to make an immediate difference as well.
It took nearly the entire day, for Sasme and the remaining ten Shinobi from Kusa to eliminate all of the Demons back, before they left however, they needed to resupply, and part of that meant, going through their comrades bodies, to get whatever was left over. It left a sick feeling in Sasme's stomach but he knew it was necessary, and it was then that he'd found a large group nearly two hundred more, of those beasts quickly headed their way. Once Sasme had made it back to the surviving Kusa members however, he was greeted with a surprising face. His former Sensei, who had been sent, after a new report indicated the number of Demons in the area was much higher then they were first told.
Sasme began to tell them that, even that was understated as another larger group was headed their way, at that very moment and they needed to be ready to defend their position. It wasn't long after they had went over a strategy that they were nearly overrun in the first assault by the massive beasts, as they appeared to be even stronger then the last bunch as well and not just deeper in numbers. It was then, that Sasme decided he had to make a drastic decision and jumped back into the front lines again after he had rested well enough, and told everyone to get moving, and head to Kumo, that he would stay and keep them off them long enough for them to get far away.
So by this point it was just him, and his former Sensei battling away doing the best they cold to not be completely overrun. Though Sasme's Jutsu was helping thin the numbers, it was obvious it still needed work, as it drained him far too easily, and he was now almost completely out of Chakra, using what Taijutsu he knew to defeat the Demons. Though he tried to hide it, his former Sensei noticed it almost immediately, after all he had trained the boy years ago. Sighing, the former ANBU used one of his more powerful techniques to drive the Demons away creating some extra space all around, and giving him a chance to speak to Sasme.
After some fierce arguing, between the two, Sasme couldn't help but accept the change in plans, it was obvious the two wouldn't last much longer before they were torn to shreds by the Demons. Sasme was also much more weakened then he was, as he had been fighting earlier, and he'd arrived just a while ago, fresh from his trip. His argument was that, he had already reached his peak, and found he was a better Sensei then an individual Shinobi, and that his time to be the hero was gone. But his time, Sasme's, was just about to begin, and if it meant saving the Village's future Raikage, then he would proudly die that day, as long as Sasme promised to be the one who finally makes the difference and helps them in the Hell they are living in now.
This had been a major turning point for Sasme, as the mission had went down as accomplished, and his Sensei was marked as Killed In Action, Sasme decided that he was right, he did want to be the one to take them out of the Hell they were in. So without any question or doubt, he asked for the promotion he'd been late for getting, and received it immediately, he was now a Jounin, but even then, that wasn't last for long, as his next goal was to become Raikage.
Raikage:- Spoiler:
Seven years after requesting his Jounin promotion, and seven years after the death of his Sensei, Sasme had reached unbelievable levels of strength, he was a Master at Ninjutsu and had become likely just as good in Fuuinjutsu as well. He had pushed himself beyond limits even the Village that Idolizes him had for him, and it was made even more evident, when Sasme discovered he had a natural ability for Sensory Jutsu, something he never even considered before, but once he began using it, it was relatively easy, almost natural for him to use it. He often spoke to his mother and father before their deaths about their time as Shinobi but he never asked about their abilities in combat, and it wasn't long after this discovery he found his mother was quite competent with Sensory Jutsu, and it seems to have found it's way to him.
Despite having been a Jounin for so long, Sasme never did have a squad of his own, aside from those he formed for missions occasionally and never with Genin. He'd simply been more focused on becoming stronger himself, and completing as many missions as possible, especially patrolling missions around their borders that involved clearing the number of Demon's in order to make their roads safer. It was because this helpful effort that, they never bothered him with asking him to take on any students either, because of the difference he was already making, by allowing travel in their own lands to be safer, even if it was just when he was on patrol, then it made quite a bit of difference.
Sasme was twenty-four years old now, and to him, that seemed like a long enough wait. He had asked for the elders to call a council meeting, in regards to filling the Raikage seat, which they gladly did. Just as the meeting was beginning, Sasme had been called in, and a review of his abilities as a Shinobi, as well as his track record of leading missions, and his lineage had been gone over. His name at this point carried a lot of weight, especially since becoming a Jounin, and his proficiency in Raiton techniques had become legendary, given his Alias, "The Lightning Sage" constantly lit up the Bingo Book, and always kept people on their toes when it was mentioned.
Combined with the fact, he had personally saved the Lightning Daimyo two years prior after a particularly large Demon had made it's way into his caste, he was unanimously chosen to become the rebirth of the Raikage, and had been named the new Shodaime Raikage of Kumogakure. Though it felt odd to be the second first Raikage, in a way it made sense, as the world was completely different now, then it was before, almost a new world really, so the idea of restarting the order kind of made sense. Besides the part of Sasme which grew up wanting to be like the Raikage he read about in the Academy couldn't help but burst at the idea of being known as Lord First, it was really something else. Now all he had to do, was prove himself.
